Copenhagen as a City of immigrants: A City Tour Through Past and Present

Copenhagen is a multicultural and cosmopolitan city, and when you walk the streets of Copenhagen today, signs of migration are everywhere. But how has immigration shaped Copenhagen from the 19^th century onwards? Which groups of immigrants, from Chinese and Muslim artists and guestworkers to Russian anarchists, have walked these narrow streets – and how were they received by society at large? Professor Garbi Schmidt takes you through the diverse and exiting history of Copenhagen as a city of immigrants.

We will meet at Kongens Nytorv and will walk through the Inner City to Assistens Cemetery in Nørrebro. We end at Vognmagergade.
